Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley got his 2013 season off to a good start last Sunday against the Tennessee Titans by recording one sack and four total tackles. Should Woodley register his second sack of the season Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, he will pass Greg Lloyd (53.5) for the fifth most sacks in team history since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.
Lloyd, who played 10 seasons with the Steelers from 1988-1997, registered his final sack in Pittsburgh during his 131st game played with the team. Woodley, however, will play in just his 85th career regular season game Monday night.
Woodley seems to be fully recovered from the ankle and hamstring injuries that plagued last season and Monday night he will be going up against Andre Smith, who did not allow a sack, hit or hurry last week against the Chicago Bears.
Over the course of his career, Woodley has registered eight career sacks against the Bengals and the team will need him to add one or two more to that total Monday night in order to increase their chances of winning the game.
