After losing running back LaRod Stephens-Howling for the season to a knee injury last week in the season opener against the Tennessee Titans, the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to re-sign running back Jonathan Dwyer to take his spot on the roster.
While Dwyer is dressed for the Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Mike Prisuta of DVE Radio said during the pre-game radio show that he doesn’t expect the former sixth-round draft pick to play on offense unless an injury occurs.
Prisuta reports that the Steelers will start running back Isaac Redman Monday night and spell him with Felix Jones, who the team traded for during the preseason.
Dwyer led the team in rushing during the preseason, but was waived during the final round of roster cuts.
We will have to see how this ultimately plays out as the Steelers have to get their running game going against the Bengals. Prisuta sounded pretty sure of himself, so take it for what it is worth.
