According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Le\’Veon Bell will not play Saturday night against the New York Giants in the preseason opener.
Head coach Mike Tomlin gave no indication that Bell wouldn\’t play during his Thursday press conference and even said the second-round draft pick could see snaps with the starters.
Bell did miss a few practices last week because of a minor knee injury. Kaboly reports that Tomlin said prior to the game that Bell\’s knee is still sore and he didn\’t see enough of him in practice the past two days to allow him to play.
Earlier in the evening it was reported that Isaac Redman was announced as the starter. Jonathan Dwyer, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Baron Batch and Alvester Alexander are also expected to get work against the Giants.
