HGH testing in the NFL will more than likely take place in 2013 as the NFLPA has “tentatively agreed” to let the league take 40 blood samples each week from five randomly chosen players from eight different teams in order to test for human growth hormones.
According to an NFL.com report, a player will be suspended for four games if he were to test positive. In addition, every player that\’s currently with a team in training camp will be required to provide a blood sample so that a population study can be done.
While all the details have yet to be finalized, it appears as though the owners and the NFLPA are closing in on putting this into action. It\’s probably not too surprising considering that MLB instituted in-season HGH testing prior to the start of the 2013 season.
