Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Monday to discuss the win Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles and preview the upcoming game this Thursday against the Tennessee Titans.
During his injury update Tomlin said that the team came out of the Sunday game with some bumps and bruises. Safety Troy Polamalu (calf) reinjured his right calf and he will probably be deemed out for the Thursday game because it being a short week and the nature of the injury. He will be evaluated further when they can back from Tennessee.
Tomlin admitted that the same could likely be said about linebacker LaMarr Woodley (hamstring), who suffered a mild right hamstring strain on Sunday. Tomlin did say there that there is more optimism with him moving forward as it is just a mild strain, if there is such a thing. Tomlin admitted that they have to be smart with how they deal with that so early in the season, but added that the door will be left ajar for Woodley just the same.
Linebacker James Harrison (knee) came through the game relatively fine with only a little swelling in his left knee. Tomlin said it wasn\’t anything major and that they will watch him as they prepare this week. Running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) also came out of the game relatively fine as well per Tomlin.
