Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey appears set to return to the lineup Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Pouncey told Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Wednesday that he will absolutely be back after sitting out the Sunday game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I am pretty sure … I am playing,” Pouncey said. “Most definitely.”
Pouncey was forced to sit out Sunday night due to a an MCL injury that he suffered on the first offensive play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 6 when right tackle Marcus Gilbert rolled up onto the back of his leg.
Pouncey was able to leave the field under his own power after sustaining the injury and he was replaced by Doug Legursky. Legursky also started against the Bengals Sunday night with Pouncey sidelined and filled in admirably.
Pouncey was able to practice on a limited basis last week and Kaboly reports that the center said on Wednesday that the knee just didn\’t feel right after the Friday session.
“It didn’t feel all the way right on Friday with the drills we went through so we just kind of just chilled out,” said Pouncey.
The Wednesday injury report will be out shortly and we will see if the third-year center was able to practice fully or not.
