Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addresses the media for his post game press conference following the 24-23 loss Thursday night to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Injury wise, Tomlin said fullback David Johnson suffered a severe knee injury that will be further evaluated when the team gets back to Pittsburgh. Tackle Mike Adams suffered a less significant knee injury according Tomlin and it happened on the play that he tried to pick up the fumble and run with the ball. Running back Jonathan Dwyer suffered a sprained shoulder that does not sound like it is serious in nature. Defensive end Brett Keisel was excused Thursday night so he could deal with a family matter.
Tomlin said they will deal with the loss, but they won\’t accept it. He said there were some positive things and that he liked the effort overall of the group. He admitted they have a lot of work to do and will be diligent about it.
Tomlin said running back Chris Rainey did some good things in the game, but he has some improvement that needs to be made in details and assignments. Tomlin said that both Adams and David DeCastro and Adams represented themselves well at times at least from an assignment standpoint. He said they were beat physically some, but that\’s life in the NFL and he is sure that they will take the lessons learned tonight and build upon it.
