The Pittsburgh Steelers have claimed running back DuJuan Harris off waivers today from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Harris was originally signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2011 after playing his college football at Troy. Last year he played in five games as a rookie and had 9 carries for 42 yards. Harris also returned 14 kickoffs for 308 yards.
At his pro day prior to the 2011 draft, Harris measured in at 5 foot, 7 inches and weighed 197 pounds. He reportedly ran a 4.44 time and did 27 reps on the bench. His vertical jump was 38 1/2 inches and broad jump measured in at an even 10 feet.
During the three preseason games with Jacksonville, Harris only carried the ball 3 times for 13 yards. He also had 1 reception for 4 yards.
There is no word of a corresponding roster move yet, but Jason Ford could have very well been waived injured on Monday. We shall see.
Mike Wallace apparently does not count against the 75 man roster after the first round of cuts, so the Steelers will not have to make a roster move until Wallace signs his tender.
