It has been a rough several weeks for former Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Jonathan Scott and on Thursday he became a free agent once again after he was released from injured reserve by the Detroit Lions, according to Adam Caplan on Twitter.
Scott was released by the Steelers prior to the start of training camp after veteran Max Starks was resigned. Scott was signed by the Lions but was placed on their non-football injury list initially after he failed his conditioning test.
Scott was removed from that list not soon after and then suffered a knee injury of some sorts. During the first round of cuts this past week, Scott was placed on the Lions injured reserve list.
We can only assume that Scott worked out some sort of injury settlement with the Lions in order to get his release.
Scott, who was originally drafted by the Lions in the 5th round of the 2006 draft, was scheduled to earn a $2.2 million base salary with the Steelers this season prior to his exit from Pittsburgh.
