Now we know why the Pittsburgh Steelers signed former LSU linebacker Ryan Baker today as Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports via Twitter that the Steelers have waived former University of Pittsburgh linebacker Brandon Lindsey. This means that the roster remains at 89 players right now following the release of Troy Smith earlier this week.
Lindsey was signed as an undrafted free agent following the draft and he took part in all of the Steelers OTA sessions and mini-camp practices where he lined up for the most part as the second-team right outside linebacker with both James Harrison and Jason Worilds both sidelined with injuries.
Baker, who was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was signed following a Thursday morning workout that also included the team working out former New England Patriots linebacker Markell Carter.
UPDATE: It appears that Lindsey was waived injured with some sort of shoulder injury.
