The Steelers have BYU defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo and Wayne State safety Jeremy Jones in for pre draft visits on Friday to close out the week according to a tweet by Steelers Digest.
Fangupo measured in at the combine at 6011 and weighed 323 pounds. He ran the 40 in 5.18 seconds to go along with a 4.62 short shuttle time. He put up 36 reps on the bench and had a vertical jump of 31 1/2 inches to go along with a 08\’03” broad jump. He played defensive end in the 3-4 front at BYU and projects as a 2 gap nose tackle at the next level. He is a pure pocket pusher when he keeps his pad level low and is very raw when it comes to technique. Not the fastest off the ball, but he does anchor well in the limited tape I have watched on him.
Jones measured in at the combine at 5094 and weighed 194 lbs. He only ran the 40 yard dash and benched at the combine but his 40 time was 4.56 seconds. Jones finished his standout career at Wayne State with 17 interceptions as a cornerback, third most in school history, and three returns for touchdowns. He finished his career with 23 pas break ups and 24 thrown for loss tackles. He’s only a D2 guy, but that is certainly dominance. in 2011 Jones had 73 solo tackles and 6.5 sacks in addition. He was a dominate Division II player.
Both Fangupo and Jones are considered late round prospects and both halve no known character issues.
