Scott Brown is reporting today that the Steelers have brought in free agent tackle Demetrius Bell and former Stanford long snapper Zachary Nolan for visits today. In addition, the Steelers are hosting Miami (Ohio) guard Brandon Brooks down at the Southside facilities for a pre draft visit
Bell was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 7th round of the 2008 NFL draft out of Northwestern State. While with the Bills Bell played left tackle and was coached in 2009 by current Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler. He started just 6 games for the Bills in 2011.
Nolan was Stanford\’s starting long snapper from 2008-2010 and would likely only be signed to provide competition to Greg Warren in training camp
Brooks measured in at his pro day at 6050 and weighed 346 pounds. The Steelers coaching staff were responsible for putting Brooks through his pro day workout after he was not invited to the combine this year. He put up 36 reps on the bench and ran an unofficial 40 time of 4.99. He can play both guard spots and even tackle in emergency situations. I have been real high on Brooks for a while now and have the Steelers selecting him in the second round in my latest mock draft.
The Steelers will reportedly host Virginia outside linebacker/defensive end Cam Johnson for a pre draft visit next week according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.
