The names are starting to seep out from the 2012 NFL combine of who the Pittsburgh Steelers are showing interest in among the draft hopefuls. Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported today via Twitter that University of Cincinnati running back Isaiah Pead let it be know that he has received strong interest from the Steelers.

The Steelers, like all other teams at the combine, are allowed 15 minute meetings with 60 players while in Indianapolis. We can assume that Pead is one of those 60 players that the Steelers have met with, or will meet with. Colbert said during his interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday how important these short meetings are with these players, and that you can really get a good read on what type of person they are in a short period of time.
Pead rushed for 1259 yards his senior season for the Bearcats on 237 carries. He also had 12 rushing touchdowns. He chipped in another 319 yards on 39 receptions with 3 of those being touchdowns. His career rushing numbers for Cincinnati were 545 rushes for 3,288 yards to go along with 27 touchdowns. He measured in at that combine at 5 foot 10 and 197 pounds. He has 31 inch arms and 8 5/8 inch hands.
Even though Rashard Mendenhall is expected to start the season on the PUP list as he recovers from ACL surgery, Colbert stated a few weeks ago that he doesn\’t consider finding help at the running back position an offseason priority for the team.
We will keep you posted of any of names that spill out this week.
