Jim Wexell from Steel City Insider reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers have also met with University of Pittsburgh guard Lucas Nix at the NFL combine in Indianapolis. The Steelers are allowed 15 minute interviews with 60 players during the week andf it is of no real surprise that the local product caught the Steelers eye. The Steelers will also get to meet with Nix during their pre draft visits as the local college players do not count against their 30 allotted visits by college players.
Nix, who said he met with Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler Wednesday night, was a three year starter at Pitt. He played both right tackle and right guard for the Panthers. He is projected as a guard at the next NFL level that can play tackle in a pinch. Nix measured in at the combine at 6 foot 5 and weighed 317 pounds. His arms measured 33 1/2 inches and his hands measured 9 3/4 inches.
Nix is currently graded by the top scouting services as a 3rd or 4th round pick and there is no secret that the Steelers will be looking for an interior lineman or two in the upcoming sdraft. make sure to read the full story by Wexell.
