Below is the defensive participation chart for the Steelers week 10 game versus the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday afternoon.
The most noticeable thing this week was that rookie defensive end Cameron Heyward did not see the field on defense for the first time this season as both Brett Keisel and Ziggy Hood played every snap of the game. I asked Steelers beat writer Scott Brown about this tonight on the latest episode of the Terrible Podcast and he has not heard the reason behind that either.
Sub-package wise the Steelers only played the dime on a handful of plays as they mostly played nickel when not in base or goal-line.
Steve McLendon and Larry Foote played very few snaps this week as well and James Farrior surprised me by playing every snap of the game as he returned from his calf injury.
Lawrence Timmons played 3 snaps at left outside linebacker in place of Jason Worilds and he came off the field for all three dime packages.
Ryan Mundy saw just one snap in place of Ryan Clark.
