Season 2, Episode 25 of The Terrible Podcast is up and David Todd is back with me today. Apologies for the schedule change this week and we will be coming at you this Thursday and Friday as opposed to our normal Wednesday-Friday schedule. Thursday we expect to have Tennessee Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt as our guest.
As it turns out, maybe we should wait until Tuesday every week because Mike Tomlin broke some big news today at his press conference on the South Side this afternoon. As you might imagine, Steeler breaking news on Tuesday is generally not good because it is almost always injury-related. Earlier in the season we heard the Steelers lost tackle Willie Colon for the year. Today Tomlin opened with news that James Harrison will be lost for “a number of weeks” with a right orbital fracture. Unfortunately Tomlin was far from finished with his injury update. The list is long and David and I go through it in detail and discuss what changes the Steelers will have to make as a result.
On to the game. As fans we are always aware of the calls and breaks that go against our team. This week we review the harsh reality that the Steelers had a ton of things go their way but still came out on the short end of a 17-10 scoreline. We spend a lot of time looking at why and how the Houston Texans were able to run the ball so effectively and what the Steelers need to do to re-establish their dominance as a defensive unit. Offensively, the line\’s problems are well-documented. Is there hope for improvement? David & I break it down and discuss a lot more about what the Steelers need to do better. Turnover differential, schemes, coaching–it all gets analyzed.
We finish up with a look at the schedule and some positives to take out of the loss. On to the Texans and three critical weeks for the Back & Gold. Thanks for listening!
