A source has informed me that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu suffered a very mild concussion today in the Steelers 17-13 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the team held him out as a preventative measure. Polamalu suffered the blow stopping Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew midway through the 4th quarter as his helmet connected with the legs of Jones-Drew.
Polamalu did not play in the final two defensive series, but reportedly wanted back in the game late. Polamalu did not speak to the media after the game and head coach Mike Tomlin only would say that he suffered concussion-like symptoms.
The status of Polamalu will not be updated by the team until the Tomlin Tuesday press conference and his status next week against the Cardinals will not be decided until later in the week.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Troy.
