Report: Jerricho Cotchery Contract Was For Vet Minimum

The contract details for recently signed free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery are being reported by Gerry Dulac as a one-year deal for the vet minimum of $810,000. If this is indeed the amount then the Steelers got an absolute bargain on a player with nothing but upside at this point. Cotchery was set to earn a base salary with the Jets this year of $1.8 million before asking for his release.

Cotchery agreed to terms with the Steelers last Thursday and did not officially sign until this past Sunday. He has been crash coursed on the Steelers playbook since arriving at Latrobe and should see considerable playing time against the Eagles this week. I wrote last week that he could be a steal if he is recovered from his offseason back surgery and it certainly seems that he is according the practice reports out of Latrobe since he arrived.
