Mark Kaboly reports via Twitter that unrestricted free agent running back Mewelde Moore has agreed to terms on a contract to return to Pittsburgh. The Steelers are dead set at re-signing their own free agents this year to help lessen the stress of relying on inexperienced rookies on the roster. No terms have been announced yet, but it would figure to be a one or two year deal.
Moore will likely resume his role as a the third down and change of pace back initially, but stands to have competition from 7th round draft pick Baron Batch, who is already turning heads in training camp. Last season Moore rushed for 99 yards on 33 carries in 15 games. He also caught 26 balls during the regular season for 205 yards.
Moore is considered a Mike Tomlin guy as he was signed as a free agent after Tomlin took over as head coach in 2008. Moore played for the Vikings before coming to Pittsburgh where Tomlin was the defensive coordinator.
