Flozell Adams Press Conference Transcript Thursday Super Bowl XLV

Flozell Adams Press Conference Transcript Thursday February 3rd Super Bowl XLV

(on how special it is to be back in Dallas for the Super Bowl) “It feels special just to be in the Super Bowl, because as you know, it’s rare to be in the Super Bowl and this is my first time after 13 years. So it’s an honor and a privilege to be able to be a part of it, let alone it being in Dallas. So just the Super Bowl has been very special to me to be able to make it.”

(on if there is a bigger, deeper feeling that’s it’s in Dallas and at Cowboys Stadium) “I mean, I really can’t answer that. I don’t really feel anything about it being here in Dallas. I’m just so happy to even be able to make it to the Super Bowl because of how rare it comes being in my 13th year.”

(on other players wearing Michigan State jerseys in his honor this week) “That made me feel good. It makes me feel real good. I was happy about it; felt good that the players, the offensive line guys felt enough to be able to buy the jerseys and show appreciation as much as I appreciate them.”

(on wanting to play in the Super Bowl during his career) “There was no shadow of a doubt. Once I was a rookie, that’s the main thing I wanted to do. You’re not just out here playing just to play or win a couple of games. You’re playing to go to the Super Bowl. So this is what it’s all about. To get to that day and to achieve it, it’ll be greatly appreciated.”

(on if he was worried he might not make it to a Super Bowl as his career went on) “Well, you know, coming up late in the years, you’re thinking, yeah, you’re not going to get the opportunity or they’re just fading away, just like other players in the past, whoever their names are, that never made it to the big dance, whatever professional sport it is. But no matter what the situation is or where I’m at, I’m just working my best to be able to make it.”

(on if he had tough years along the way) “Yeah. If you have good ways all the way through life, I could call you a storyteller. But yes, there’s been good years, there’s been bad years, there’s been memorable, there’s been some that are not so memorable. You just have to go on and focus and do the best you can.”

(on how many injuries he has had in his career) “That’s countless. Being a football player, you’re always going to have injuries whether you have an ACL (injury), which I had, sprained fingers or shoulders. It’s just a lot of stuff that you have to go through.”

(on if he thinks he’ll have aches and pains later in life) “Of course. I talk to other players, veterans that come around now and then, and they say they have aches and pains. But whether you have this job or any other job, you’re going to have aches and pains getting older anyways. Whether it’s significant or not, you don’t know.”

(on going up against Clay Matthews) “He’s a great player. Just like any other NFL player, we watch film on him. He’s exciting to see, and me as well as the offensive line and offense, we’re looking forward to going against the Green Bay defense.”

(on if he’ll be nervous on the day of the game) “Yeah, I mean, I’ve never experienced a Super Bowl. There’s always going to be some type of nervousness. I get nervous before mostly every game. It’s not nervous as far as being scared of an opponent; it’s more of what I’m going to do and how I’m going to do it in whatever particular situations that come and everything like that. Being in the Super Bowl, I’m sure it’s going to be a little bit of nervousness, but once you just start cracking helmets out there, it’s going to be like the same old thing. You’ve just got to go out there and do the best you can.”

(on the problems that Matthews presents) “He brings a lot of problems, disruptions and everything, with any type of offense that goes against him. That’s what makes him remarkable. Like I said, we just have to go and do the best we can to be able to stop him and the other guys as well. It’s not just him. They have a very good defense.”

(on if Matthews is quick) “All of them (are) quick, man. You look at the film, we see all of them are.”
