Timmons Named Defensive Player Of The Week – Harrison Excused From Practice

The Steelers linebacker news continues into Wednesday as linebacker Lawrence Timmons has been named the defensive player of the week in the AFC for his one interception, 11 tackles and two sack performance turned in on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. His numbers continue to pile up through 5 games as he is currently leading the team in tackles and is tied for fourth overall in the NFL with 59 total tackles. He has three sacks on the season to go with an interception, a forced fumble and two passes defensed.

In your daily James Harrison update, Harrison met with head coach Mike Tomlin this morning and has been been excused from practice and team meetings for the rest of the day. According to an interview last night on the Tony Bruno Show, Harrison is debating retiring after being hit with the largest fine on Tuesday and termed a repeat offender. Tomlin is expected to addresses the situation after practice today.

UPDATE: It is now being reported that Tomlin told the media in a conference call that Harrison will be back at practice on Thursday.
