Below is the Steelers week 7 defensive participation chart versus the Miami Dolphins from this past Sunday. Please comment with any discrepancies you find. A few things you will notice is that rookie linebacker Jason Worilds played left outside linebacker in the nickel passing downs as a pass rusher mostly while Lawrence Timmons played inside when LaMarr Woodley went down with a hamstring injury. On other downs, Timmons played the left outside spot and Larry Foote filled in inside for Timmons. Also do not get caught up who played where on the defensive line when Aaron Smith went down. The Steelers used all sorts of combinations on different downs including one nickel play that featured both Casey Hampton and Chris Hoke as pass rushers. The other combinations and sides depended on what gap they were assigned and etc. I would expect more of the same of this type rotation against the Saints and hopefully Brett Keisel will lighten the load by returning from his hamstring injury.
