Steelers Six From Around The Web – Tuesday August 17th – Antonio Brown The New Rod Tidwell Edition

With his animated first-down gestures on Saturday night, rookie wide receiver Antonio Brown has been tagged with a new nickname according to Hines Ward. Ward says his new name is Rod Tidwell, the demonstrative, fictitious wide receiver in the movie Jerry Maguire. Just as long as he does not start screaming, “Show Me The Money” before his rookie three year contract is up, I am fine with it.

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said on Monday he was not happy to see quarterback Dennis Dixon running against the Lions backups Saturday night when he had receivers open. Arians told reporters, “No, because we had wide open receivers. It\’s fine to run when there\’s nobody open but when there are open receivers, get them the ball. That was their down-the-line guys out there chasing him. The front-line guys are a little faster and a little quicker. When he does break it, that\’s great, but I\’d rather see him deliver the ball to his check-downs and other players.”

93.7 The Fan NFL analyst Josh Miller joined the FAN Morning Show after Saturday’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions to break down what he saw in the game and share some concerns about Flozell Adams changing positions on the offensive line.
