Steelers Six From Around The Web – Friday August 6th – Night Practice, Night Practice Edition

A reminder that the Steelers will play under the lights tonight when they hold their annual night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. Practice begins at 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a 15-minute autograph session at 6:45 p.m. We expect a ton of Tweets tonight from Latrobe.

Ed Bouchette writes in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about the lack of experienced depth the Steelers have at the running back position. Not a ton of career carries between all the backs on the roster.

Mark Kaboly writes about how veteran Charlie Batch is finding out first-hand how hard it is to get snaps when the Steelers are trying to get two quarterbacks ready for the season. Through 8 practices and more than 20 team periods, Batch has taken just two snaps.

Dale Lolley writes about the possibility of the Steelers offense to run more gadget plays for spark in 2010 with fleet-footed quarterback Dennis Dixon. It was reported Thursday, that Dixon has even been lining up as a running back at times.

Bengals.com has a respect piece on Dick LeBeau who helped mentor head coach Marvin Lewis when Lewis broke into the NFL in 1992 when they were both in Pittsburgh. LeBeau encouraged Lewis to take the Bengals job about a week after LeBeau lost it and even would have worked for Lewis in Cincinnati according to the story. I for one am glad we got him back from the Bengals.
