From the “Who Cares File”, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was voted the third most disliked person in sports by Forbes. I thought Forbes was a business media outfit and who the hell did they round up for this poll? Tom Van Riper was interviewed by Joe Starkey to discuss the list on 93.7 The Fan. Regardless, I think all of the negative Roethlisberger press is on tail end now. As long as he stays clean now, the hard stuff should be behind him. That is of course until Dog Fancy releases its poll. I am sure Michael Vick will be No.1 on it as well.
To sum up the negativity against Big Ben in Pittsburgh, Dan Gigler has some examples of anti-Ben shirts being sold down in the Pittsburgh Strip District. I am sure sales of these are dwindling as well. Hold tight folks as we are almost down to 39 days until training camp and I doubt you see anyone wearing these shirts at Latrobe.
Steelers second round draft pick, Jason Worilds was honored by his home town Monday afternoon in New Jersey at the Carteret High School football field. He received a “Jason Worilds Day” proclamation from the Carteret Mayor and was presented a key to the city.
In the Pro Football Weekly Whispers section, they would have you believe that both third-round pick Emmanuel Sanders and sixth round pick Antonio Brown will make the 53 man roster at the receiver positions. Although I do hope both indeed make it, it is a bit early to be handing out roster spots to 6th round picks while they have only practiced in shorts. Lets hope the hard work continues.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been a busy man as he recently addressed area youth coaches in a one-day educational program and ran the Old Spice Coach Tomlin Football Camp, that started Monday at the Mars Athletic Complex.
Both Mike Tomlin and tight end Heath Miller talked to the media briefly on Monday about filling in for Ben Roethlisberger.
