Steelers selected OLB Thaddeus Gibson with the 116th Selection overall and the 18th Pick in the 4th round of 2010 NFL Draft. Gibson is another tweener type that projects as an outside linebacker in the Steelers 3-4 defense. Like most tweeners, Gibson is a great athlete with a solid, muscular build. Gibson is 6\’2″, 243 lbs. with 33 inch arms and a 8 3/4 inch hand size. He benched 225 32 times at the combine and ran a 4.71 40 time as well. At his pro day he ran 4.58 and 4.59 and stood on the rest of his combine numbers. His speed results in good burst and his balance and body control are reported as above average. Excellent pass rusher off the edge with a big motor and strong in pursuit. A better coverage guy then most tweeners. Heavy hitter and great tackler. Does take bad angles at times and not known as a guy with many moves or good with his hands. He excelled as a freshman at OU on special teams. Gibson is another young kid who left early for financial decisions. Better suited for the left side initially, but has played on the right as well. Gibson did not play much special teams is senior year at OU.
