Steelers Six From Around The Web – Monday March 29th

Not too sure about this story and it\’s validity yet, but Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes is being accused of assault on a woman in Orlando. Holmes threw a glass of booze in a woman\’s face. The incident reportedly involved the whole glass and the woman suffered a cut near the eye. Orlando Police refused to write a police report, the woman says. Holmes was down in Disney this past week and spotted at an NFL media reception at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. Let\’s see how this plays out and hope this is a joke.

Adam Schefter reported last night that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not report to the Steelers offseason conditioning program that starts today. Team spokesman Dave Lockett said Roethlisberger\’s presence would create too much of a distraction, and the decision was made for him not to attend.

Former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter was arrested over the weekend in California and is being accused of suspicion of drunken driving, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Porter was stopped by officers early Saturday in a Taco Bell parking lot. I would say that it was a great decision to not get in the contest to bring him back this offseason. I am sure the Whiz is none to happy.

Heinz field could indeed be the spot of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic. The game is rumored to feature the Penguins against the Capitals. The game happens on New Years Day. I would expect an official announcement fairly soon on this.

Miami Herald writer, Dan Le Batard, talked to former Steelers offensive lineman Leon Searcy, who is trying to get back on track after losing all the money he made in the NFL. Searcy is currently an assistant coach at Florida International University and broke after football.

Carlee Roethlisberger is busy trying to get Oklahoma women\’s team to the Final Four right now. It must be difficult with the last name of Roethlisberger and being in the light of the media right now. Good luck to her.
