Cornerbacks Donald Washington (Ohio State), Don Carey (Norfolk State) and Sherrod Martin (Troy) and outside linebacker Lawrence Sidbury (Richmond) have all been brought in by the Steelers for pre draft visits on Thursday.
Washington started in 2007 as a sophomore for OSU, but was suspended for two games at the start of 2008. He has great leaping ability and is very athletic. Regarded as a late, day two pick. Martin is a big cornerback and naturally a free safety. Might be a project to learn at the corner position. He has an outside shot of being drafted on day one thanks to a great pro day. Carey could be a diamond in the ruff as he played at a small school and never faced strong NFL type competition. Currently likely a last round draft pick and a project corner. Sidbury is a hybrid 3-4 outside linebacker/defensive end candidate in traditional Steeler mold. He is a great leader and has a strong motor. Likely a second or third round pick.
