It doesn’t appear as though former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will be headed to desert after all.
After previously reporting last week that LeBeau might become a senior defensive advisor or linebackers coach with the Arizona Cardinals, Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 Radio reports Sunday morning that the Steelers longtime defensive coordinator is now unlikely to join their staff in any capacity.
The Cardinals are still looking for a new defensive coordinator after losing Todd Bowles, who became the new head coach of the New York Jets.
LeBeau more than likely wants to stay close to his immediate family in Cincinnati and thus taking up residence in Arizona would not accomplish that.
If indeed LeBeau does ultimately land with a new team, the Tennessee Titans would probably be the best fit for him as not only is he familiar with head coach Ken Whisenhunt, but defensive coordinator Ray Horton as well. The Titans also play in Nashville, which is only four hours from Cincinnati.
The Titans coaching staff was busy this past week in Mobile, AL at the Senior Bowl, so perhaps we will hear more this coming week as to whether or not they’ll be interested in adding LeBeau to their staff as some sort of senior defensive advisor.
LeBeau reportedly still wants to coach in the NFL after resigning his position with the Steelers several weeks ago.
Expected to promote within the current staff. As for Dick LeBeau it doesn't appear he will be joining the Cards staff MT @ozrashid DC search
