Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley has become a bit more vocal the last few days and is making sure everyone knows how he feels about his contract situation including Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports and most recently a phone interview with Jory Rand of KDKA television. Woodley is letting all the talk about the Steelers reports about not negotiating until the end of 2010 get to him. Couple that with other players around the league asking him about his status and seeing players like Titans running back Chris Johnson strong arm a shift of future money to this year a Woodley feels left out in the cold. Woodley claims to understand the CBA situation, but I really do not think he is given the Steelers front office enough faith. Understandable it is hard to do as he says right now there is no contact between the two sides. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think the Steelers will indeed take care of Woodley after this year. A lot depends on the future NFL labor deal and salary cap. Woodley claims right now that he will not be a distraction at camp or hold out and Steeler Nation hopes as much as well. The talk about his contract will continue until something is done and I doubt the Steelers comment on it any time soon per team policy. Woodley can continue playing the media, but I do not think it helps his cause or shows in a positive light in doing so. There is a right and wrong way to go about this and Woodley is slowly going down the path that could cause strained relations going forward.
