Schefter: LB Devin Bush Re-Signs With Browns

Devin Bush

Veteran linebacker Devin Bush is staying in the AFC North. He’s re-signing with the Cleveland Browns, agreeing to a one-year contract with the team, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Bush in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, trading up from No. 20 to No. 10 to select him. Despite his athleticism, a lack of size and strength and an ACL tear hampered his career. He spent just four years with Pittsburgh, barely playing towards the end of his final year, and wasn’t retained after his rookie deal expired.

Devin Bush made 48 starts for his Steelers career and recorded 286 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions.

The Seattle Seahawks signed him to a one-year deal ahead of the 2023 season. He appeared in 13 games with three starts and finished the year with 37 tackles. That included an 18-tackle performance against Pittsburgh, though the Steelers ran for 202 yards in a win, and Bush’s tackles were inflated by a healthy amount of assisted stops.

Inking a one-year deal with Cleveland in 2024, Bush made 10 starts and posted 76 tackles and one sack across nearly 500 defensive snaps. It’s the same franchise his father, Devin Bush Sr., played safety for during the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

Bush is the second ex-Steeler to join Cleveland in as many days. Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to trade QB Kenny Pickett to the Browns for draft picks and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. With Deshaun Watson twice tearing his Achilles, Pickett has a legitimate chance to start during the season though Cleveland will likely bring in additional competition throughout the offseason.

Last May, Devin Bush said he joined the Browns because he loves the AFC North’s style of football. Now, he’ll get more of it in 2025.
