Jay Glazer Likes Aaron Rodgers’ Fit With Steelers, Thinks Arthur Smith Can ‘Get The Most Out Of Him’

It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers want QB Aaron Rodgers to be their starter in 2025, and while Rodgers has yet to make a decision, FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer thinks Pittsburgh is a good fit for the four-time MVP. Appearing on FOX & Friends this morning, Glazer said that the Steelers, Giants and Vikings are all in the race for Rodgers, but he likes him in Pittsburgh with Arthur Smith as his offensive coordinator.

“I’d kind of want a pissed-off Aaron Rodgers if I was one of these teams. The Steelers are in it, Giants obviously, Vikings lurking around there if he does the same thing as Brett Favre. But yeah, if I’m one of these teams I look at it and go, ‘I think he has stuff in the tank, I think he’s gonna be ticked off, I think he’s gonna want to show something,'” Glazer said. “I think a team like the Steelers, if you put him with an Arthur Smith or you put him with a Kevin O’Connell, I think you’ll get the most out of him. But I do like him for the Steelers.”

Smith got praise for how he handled Pittsburgh’s quarterback room last year. While things ended on a sour note with Russell Wilson, it’s not far-fetched to think that Smith could work well with Rodgers. He helped change the narrative around Justin Fields last season, getting him to play the best sustained football of his NFL career over a six-game stretch. And until the late-season collapse, Wilson was on pace to put up some of the better numbers of his career.

Rodgers’ overall body of work wasn’t bad with the Jets, but the offense went through prolonged struggles and the team went 5-12. His lack of mobility at this point in his career is the biggest concern, and I don’t think anyone would expect the MVP-level play that Rodgers delivered for most of his career if he ended up in Pittsburgh. But he’d have two good weapons in George Pickens and DK Metcalf with the Steelers, and Smith helped Ryan Tannehill turn his career around in Tennessee in addition to the work he did in Pittsburgh last year.

The idea that Rodgers has something to prove is true after the way things ended in New York, but having something to prove and being able to prove it are two different things. The big question if Rodgers winds up with the Steelers (or anywhere) is if he’ll truly have enough left in the tank to lead a team deep into the postseason.

That’s what the Steelers are likely counting on in their pursuit of Aaron Rodgers, and while the saga may not end soon, right now, it feels as if Rodgers to Pittsburgh is the most likely outcome. His fit with Smith could help elevate the team’s offense, especially with the addition of Metcalf.
