RAVENS DL RETIRES
The Baltimore Ravens’ defense struggled to start the 2024 season, but they were better down the stretch. Defensive lineman Michael Pierce helped them turn around. He had two different stints with the Ravens. The first came from 2016 to 2019. He rejoined Baltimore in 2022, but it looks like this second round with the Ravens is over.
Appearing on the Sports Spectrum podcast, Pierce announced that he’s retiring. At his best, he was one of the best run-stoppers in the league. He put together a solid career with the Ravens and the Minnesota Vikings. Now, he’ll be on to the next chapter of his life while the Ravens have to fill the void Pierce leaves.
BLAINE STEWART JOINS BUCS
Blaine Stewart was a member of the Steelers’ coaching staff from 2018 to 2022. He spent his time with them as an assistant coach, including several years as the assistant wide receivers coach. Stewart helped coach young players like Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool. However, he left the Steelers in 2023 to join the University of West Virginia coaching staff. Now, it looks like he’s moving on to something else.
An article written by Mike Casazza on 247Sports revealed that Stewart is set to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2023 and 2024, he was the tight ends coach at West Virginia. He was set to continue helping develop their offense this season, but it looks like he’s returning to the NFL. It’s a big step for a young coach like Stewart.
STEELERS COACH SPEAKING AT FLORIDA
The Steelers’ coaching staff has gone through a few changes in recent years. Anthony Midget is one coach who joined the Steelers last year. He’s their assistant secondary coach, who previously spent time with the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans. He’s originally from Florida, and now, he’s giving back to his home.
On Twitter, the University of Florida’s football team announced that Midget would be one of the guest speakers at Gators Chalk Talk. This conference welcomes college and high school coaches and lets them learn from people with NFL experience. It’s nice to see Midget passing on some of his wisdom.
