Mike Tomlin, Omar Khan Attending Michigan’s Pro Day

The Pro Day circuit continues Friday for Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and GM Omar Khan, this time in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

According to the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett, Tomlin and Khan are in attendance for Friday’s Pro Day at Michigan.

As Birkett points out, Tomlin’s stop in Ann Arbor is a usual one for the longtime Steelers’ head coach. He’s spoken in the past about his love for Michigan men in the draft process, speaking rather highly of Michigan’s history and culture in an interview with Rich Eisen in 2019 near the end of that year’s draft.

“You just get that feeling when you walk into Schembechler Hall and see The Big House in the background, and it lets you know you’re in the right place,”Tomlin told Eisen.

“Certain kids are attracted to programs — like Michigan — that have a history, tradition and legacy that is centered around core values and football. The aspects that bring those young men to a place like U-M attract other young men who see that.”

At Michigan’s Pro Day Friday, Tomlin and Khan will get a look at the likes of defensive tackle Mazi Smith, cornerback DJ Turner, tight end Luke Schoonmaker, offensive linemen Ola Oluatimi and Ryan Hayes, EDGE Mike Morris, and wide receiver Ronnie Bell, among others.

UPDATE (4:28 PM): In addition to those two, Director of College Scouting Dan Colbert also was in attendance. And here is confirmation on Tomlin making the trip.
