Randy Fichtner has had to work to transform the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense on the fly. You don’t plan to lose your quarterback for the entire season. It’s changed the focal point of the unit from one centered around the quarterback to one that keys in on the running backs. The Steelers’ offense has also struggled mightily on third down.
The last two weeks of working on both issues. Getting his backs the ball and moving the sticks. Against the Ravens and Chargers, Fichtner has called the same pick concept to get the RB in the flat, out-leveraging the covering linebacker and creating traffic for him to sift through. They’ve resulted in a nine yard gain on 3rd and 5 and James Conner’s 26 yard touchdown versus LA.
As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below. And thanks for watching.
