Sorry I’m running behind tonight but with today being the Pittsburgh Steelers first day of training cap practice of 2019, I’ve been a busy dude and can’t seem to get caught up.
For the most part, it sounds like the first Steelers training camp practice of 2019 was a successful one and I cant wait to discuss with Alex Kozora on tonight’s podcast.
Let’s get right to tonight’s Friday night five questions before it gets much later.

5 – Is this stat below that Kozora uncovered recently overrated or underrated? It seems to be a popular stat in the Pittsburgh media now since Kozora wrote about it a few weeks ago.
(18 of the 19 past Super Bowl winners finished the regular season with at least 25 turnovers. Only one, the 2016 New England Patriots, finished with fewer. They registered 23, still finishing in the top half of the league.)
Recap of 1 Week Before Training Camp Friday Night Questions
Question 1: Not surprisingly, an overwhelming 95.2% of respondents predict the Steelers last draft choice, 7th rounder Derwin Grey will not make the Steelers week 1 53-man roster. 6th rounder Ulysses Gilbert III was next with 76.2%. We are happy with the draft class, mentioning only three others not making the 53-man roster. Isaiah Buggs (6th round) & Zach Gentry (5th round) each were mentioned by 14.3% of respondents. Sutton Smith (6th round) got a single mention.
Question 2: Steelers Depot respondents rated the overall quality of the Steelers offseason high. There was some volatility as the ratings ranged from 4-10 on a 10-point scale. But the average rating was a solid 7.74 while the median rating was an 8. The lower ratings came from the loss of AB and Bell and some concerns with the drafting tactics. While the higher raters liked the lack of drama and overall happiness with the draft.
Question 3: Joe Haden will get a new contract before the start of the 2019 season according to 85.7% of Steelers Depot respondents. There have been rumors over the past 24 hours that Haden & the Steelers are discussing a deal. But as of early Friday morning, no news.
Question 4: Steelers rookie outside linebacker Sutton Smith will have more than 2 sacks during the preseason according to 71.4% of Steelers Depot respondents.
Question 5: Only 1/3 of Steelers Depot respondents believe the Baltimore Ravens will win more than 8 games in 2019. The majority see them somewhere between 7-9 & 8-8.
