Late May 2019: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Steelers Depot Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday to yinz and I hope everyone’s weekend is off to great start.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their second week of OTA practice of Thursday and that means they have four sessions remaining before the team’s mandatory minicamp takes place. Monday’s session will likely be a team-building event, so essentially there are just three OTA practices remaining in 2019. Where has the time gone?

8 weeks from tonight we’ll be discussing the Steelers first training camp practice at Latrobe and 10 weeks from tonight we’ll be watching their preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Heinz Field. Football season is indeed close.

As usual, I have five questions for yinz to answer on this Friday night and I hope several can partake in this weekend site tradition. Thanks to all who visited the site this past week and a special thanks for helping us make this month of May the best May the site has ever had.

Have a safe and happy weekend and peace and love, peace and love to all of yinz.

3 – True or false: The Steelers defense have at least 48 sacks and 23 turnovers in 2019?

4 – Rank these second-year players in order of your excitement of seeing them play during the preseason (Ola Adeniyi, Marcus Allen, James Washington, Jaylen Samuels, Chuks Okorafor, Mason Rudolph).

5 The Steelers first preseason game is 10 weeks from tonight. Call your shot now: Which player will we be talking the most about the next day after that contest at Heinz Field?

Recap of 2019 Memorial Day Friday Night 5 Questions

Question 1: Steelers Depot respondents were split on whether there would be any trickle-down effect if Ben Roethlisberger’s RedZone interception had been caught for a touchdown by Antonio Brown instead. Half felt the Steelers would make the playoffs, but AB would still be gone while half believed there would be no ultimate change – no playoffs and AB still gone.

Question 2: 60% of respondents believe the X-factor on offense will be a wide receiver or a combination. Donte Moncrief got the most mentions followed by James Washington, Diontae Johnson & JuJu. Tight end Vance McDonald got 20% of the X-factor vote while the remainder was split between C Maurkice Pouncey, RB James Conner & K Chris Boswell.

Question 3: All but one respondent was fine with the Steelers playing the Patriots to open the season. Let’s get it on.

Question 4: The median response was that Mike Hilton deserves $3 million a year if the Steelers extended his contract 2-3 years. The average of all responses was $2,377,143 and ranged from $645 thousand to 4 $ million per year. Let’s see what happens.

Question 5: Some of the items noted after he first week of OTA’s was the leadership of Devin Bush, James Washington & Ola Adeniyi emerging as 2nd year players, Ben Roethlisberger publicity and of course … no significant injuries. Knock on wood.
