Season 9, Episode 103 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Tuesday show, Alex Kozora and I immediately talk about the Seattle Seahawks signing quarterback Russell Wilson to a new contract Monday night that results in him now being the highest-paid player in the NFL. We talk about what Wilson’s new contract might mean for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is expected to sign an extension between now and the start of the 2019 regular season.
The Steelers have had a few more pre-draft visitors in since we last talked on Friday so Alex and I review the latest players who have come to town. With one of those visiting players being a running back, Alex and I discuss the percent of explosive runs produced during their careers by the top running backs in this year’s draft class. We also go over what the Steelers seemingly look for in the draft at running back and why there’s one that Alex thinks really has a chance of being drafted by the team.
Alex and I also talk some about wide receivers in this year’s draft class when it comes to the ability to make explosive plays of 15 yards or more. A few rankings on the list I created might surprise a few listeners. We then proceed to go over the last mock draft that Alex released on the site from top to bottom.
Will the Steelers draft Washington cornerback Byron Murphy in the first-round this year? We go over what the Steelers look for in cornerbacks in drafts and have a great discussion about Murphy’s college tape in addition to his overall lack of playing time at Washington. We review a few of his measurables and also talk about a few other cornerbacks at the top of this year’s draft class.
Alex and I close out this episode with a look at who the Steelers might consider selecting in the first round at No. 20 overall and the players that might be selected in the first 19 picks. Alex and I then close this episode out by answering a few emails we have received from listeners over the course of the last several days.
As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.
