Some house-keeping for you Steelers Nation because I know you all – and myself included – are counting down the days until training camp, when we finally start learning something about this Pittsburgh Steelers team.
The Steelers will announce the full training camp schedule Wednesday, June 6th at 10 AM, according to a response from Bob Labriola over on the team website.
Camp will begin in late July and run through mid-August. As always, it’ll all go down at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, where the team has practiced for more than 50 years. Typical highlights include the first day in pads (Day Three), which includes the first backs on ‘backers drill, and the Friday Night practice at the high school a few miles away. SportsCenter has covered the event for the last two seasons.
Like we have for the last three years, we plan to be there for every practice, giving you the low-down on what happens each day, as well as a wrap-up podcast for most evenings.
If you haven’t been able to make it to camp before, I definitely encourage it. There are few places better for football than Latrobe. Tucked away in Pennsylvania. No city, no hustle, no bustle, just football. And for families, there’s no better chance to get autographs or take pictures with the players (avoid team family days if you are going for autographs, players are usually in a hurry to get off the field).
We’ll pass along the full camp schedule when it’s released next month. If you’ve been to camp, in the comments below, tell us your favorite memory.
