The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to have their second free agent visit of the offseason and it’s a name most of us didn’t expect to see. Linebacker Dont’a Hightower is slated to visit with the team in the near future, per ESPNs Adam Schefter.

The New England Patriots have shown interest in re-signing him while the New York Jets curiously have thrown their hat into the ring. Hightower is the best inside linebacker on the market, recording 65 tackles across 13 starts for the Pats in 2016. He’s never been able to play all 16 games in a season but in 2014, had over 100 tackles and six sacks. He was the 25th overall pick of the 2012 draft.
It’s unclear exactly what his market value is. It’s seemed to cool since the start of free agency but he should still cost a pretty penny to sign long-term. He’d be an immediate replacement for Lawrence Timmons, who signed with the Miami Dolphins over the weekend.
