Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans got some bad news Thursday evening with the NT Brandon Williams’ agency announcing he inked a five year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
Previous reports made it seem certain he would leave Baltimore with too many suitors and a price tag to match. Now, he’ll be a Raven for the next half-decade. In my mind, he’s the best nose tackle in football and a player who has given the Steelers fits for the past three seasons. The stats aren’t gaudy but Williams was their biggest disruption in the front seven and forced teams to gameplan for and around him.
The Ravens still lost RT Ricky Wagner but have seemed to salvage their offseason, signing Danny Woodhead, safety Tony Jefferson, and now, Williams.
Since Williams cracked the starting lineup, the Ravens’ run defense has finished in the top ten every season, including a 5th place ranking in 2016.
