Personally, I can’t remember Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin ever missing an Ohio State pro day. With that said, Tomlin is present for the annual Buckeye pro day on Thursday, according to Kimberly Jones of the NFL Network.
This year’s class of Ohio State draft hopefuls is once again very large. Leading the list of players is cornerback Marshon Lattimore, safety Malik Hooker, linebacker Raekwon McMillan, cornerback Gareon Conley, center Pat Elflein, wide receiver Curtis Samuel and wide receiver Noah Brown.
The three defensive backs on that list, Lattimore, Hooker and Conley, are all expected to be drafted in the first two rounds and all three could wind up being off the board by the time the Steelers pick 30th overall.
As for McMillan, who projects as an off-the-ball linebacker in the NFL, he figures to wind up hearing his name called sometime on day-two. The Steelers reportedly have interest in him and might be one of the 30 players the team brings in for a pre-draft visit next month.
At this year’s combine, McMillian measured in at 6017, 240-pounds and he ran the 40-yard-dash in 4.61 seconds and did 23 reps on the bench. In the 39 games that McMillian played in at Ohio State he registered 275 total tackles of which 17.5 resulted in lost yardage. He also had 6 sacks, 9 pass breakups, one interception and forced two fumbles.
