The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed CB Devonte Johnson to a futures contract, his agency announced on Twitter earlier Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson (5’10/6 180) was a 2016 UDFA out of Weber State. He put up impressive numbers at his Pro Day, running a 4.55, jumping 41 inches in the vert, and 11’2″ in the broad jump. Named a team captain, he started 11 games his senior season, recording 40 tackles and breaking up 11 passes.
He missed the 2013 and 2014 seasons due to being academically ineligible.
Johnson signed with the Atlanta Falcons after the draft. He stuck throughout camp and made the initial practice squad before being cut two weeks later. Look for a futures report on his journey within the next week.
