Thanks to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk we now have the details of the four-year contract extension that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown signed on Monday.
Brown did indeed receive a $19 million signing bonus as ESPN reported earlier. However, Brown will earn a base salary of $910,000 in 2017 and not $4.71 million as ESPN reported earlier.
Brown has roster bonuses due in 2018 and 2019 of $6 million and $2.5 million respectively and both are due by the fifth day of the league year. If the Steelers need to, they can always turn that $6 million roster into a signing bonus should they need to free up any salary cap space next year. Hopefully they won’t have to do that, however.
As you can see, Brown’s 2017 cap charge is $13,618,334 and that’s what it was heading into Monday.
