The Pittsburgh Steelers have now completed their first full practice ahead of their Sunday AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots and their Wednesday injury report includes 14 players being listed on it.
The Steelers Wednesday injury report begins with some encouraging news as tight end Ladarius Green (concussion) was able to practice on a limited basis. Green, who hasn’t played in a game since suffering a concussion way back in Week 15, practiced Wednesday for the first time since the Thursday before the Steelers Wild Card game against the Miami Dolphins.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said after Wednesday’s practice that he has no update on Green as he’s yet to meet with the doctors. Green is reportedly still in protocol.
Also limited on Wednesday for the Steelers were linebacker Anthony Chickillo (ankle) and safety Mike Mitchell (not injury related). Chickillo, who has missed the Steelers last two games with an ankle injury, failed to practice last week.
Several Steelers players sat out Wednesday’s practice and that list includes running back Le’Veon Bell (not injury related), kicker Chris Boswell (illness), safety Sean Davis (shoulder), center B.J. Finney (illness), wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (illness), quarterback Zach Mettenberger (illness), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related) and linebacker Vince Williams (shoulder).
All seven players who sat out Wednesday’s practice are expected to be fine come Sunday.
Practicing fully on Wednesday were linebacker James Harrison (shoulder, triceps), running back Fitzgerald Toussaint (concussion) and defensive end Ricardo Mathews (ankle). Toussaint and Mathews both missed the Steelers game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of their injuries.
