The Pittsburgh Steelers have now released their first injury report of the week ahead of Sunday’s road Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs and it includes a total of 10 players.
Not practicing on Wednesday for the Steelers were tight end Ladarius Green (concussion), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (foot), running back Le’Veon Bell (not injury related), linebacker Anthony Chickillo (ankle), running back Fitzgerald Toussaint (concussion), defensive end Ricardo Mathews (ankle) and linebacker Vince Williams (shoulder).
While Roethlisberger didn’t practice on Wednesday, that’s not too surprising as he’s had Wednesday’s off in the past. While he is currently nursing a foot injury that he suffered this past Sunday, he’s expected to be fine come game time.
Green not practicing is concerning as he remains in protocol. The tight end apparently suffered a setback with his concussion last Friday after practicing fully last Wednesday and Thursday. Green is now joined in protocol by Toussaint, who suffered a concussion this past Sunday.
As for Chickillo and Mathews, the two missed the Wild Card game against the Miami Dolphins because of ankle injuries that they have been dealing with for a few weeks. It will now be interesting to see if either player can practice fully by Friday. Williams, on the other hand, was on the injury report last week but did play against the Dolphins.
Safety Robert Golden (ankle) practiced fully on Wednesday and that’s welcomed news being as he missed the game against the Dolphins with his ankle injury. Golden is the Steelers special teams captain and they will certainly need him back on the field Sunday against the Chiefs.
Safety Sean Davis (shoulder) and defensive end Stephon Tuitt (ankle) are both listed by the Steelers on their injury report as being limited on Wednesday. Davis injured his shoulder against the Dolphins but was able to finish the game. Tuitt, who also played against the Dolphins, is apparently dealing with an ankle injury. He missed the Steelers final two regular season games with a right knee sprain.
