The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their Thursday injury report and unfortunately, it’s a little bleaker than yesterday’s outlook. A total of eight players were tagged as did not participate.
Chris Boswell (abdomen), Ramon Foster (chest), Javon Hargrave and Shamarko Thomas (concussions), Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot), Ladarius Green (not injury related), Zach Mettenberger (illness), and DeAngelo Willliams (knee).
It’s fair to rule out Heyward-Bey this week as he works his way back. Hargrave could still clear the concussion protocol but being a young player with hardly any reps, it’s difficult to imagine him being available Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Thomas will need to clear soon, too.
Foster was held out yesterday for then-reported non-injury related reasons but is now showing up with a chest injury. His situation will be one to watch. If he can’t go, B.J. Finney will replace him.
Boswell continues to be held out. Randy Bullock will start in his place if needed.
And Williams may have taken a step back, being held out after getting in limited work yesterday. Fitzgerald Toussaint will continue to serve as Le’Veon Bell’s backup.
Pittsburgh will release their final injury report tomorrow afternoon.
