The Pittsburgh Steelers hope to have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) back Sunday for their Week 9 road game against the Baltimore Ravens and after practicing on a limited basis all week, he was listed as questionable on the team’s Friday injury report.
The consensus seems to be that Roethlisberger will indeed start Sunday against the Ravens. However, after Friday’s practice, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said the team doesn’t have to decide yet on whether or not Roethlisberger will play Sunday, so they won’t. He went on to add that Roethlisberger had a good week of practice and that they’ll now wait to see how he responds to it.
In other Friday injury report news, cornerback William Gay (foot) was added on Friday as questionable with a foot injury. Gay has not missed a game so far during his career so odds are good he’ll play Sunday against the Ravens. Gay failed to practice Friday and said he was just taking the day off.
The Steelers also listed center/guard Cody Wallace (knee) as out this week on Friday and that’s not a surprise being as he has yet to play in a game so far this season. Running back DeAngelo Williams (knee) is listed as questionable on the Friday injury report. Williams practiced some on Friday after sitting out Thursday’s session.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown (hip), tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle), defensive end Cameron Heyward (hamstring), safety Shamarko Thomas (groin), and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (shoulder) all practiced fully every day this week and are no longer listed on the injury report that was released by the team on Friday.
