The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their fifth training camp practice of the 2016 offseason and as promised, head coach Mike Tomlin provided an update on cornerback Senquez Golson, who suffered a mid-foot injury during Monday’s session.
“He has a Lisfranc injury,” Tomlin said of Golson. “He’s being evaluated and there’s potentially going to be surgery. When that evaluation and potential surgery takes place I’ll give you an update in terms of the length of time that he’s going to be out. If I do anything other than that at this point it will be speculation. Disappointing for him, but it’s much a part of the game as blocking and tackling. We’ll be close to him and encourage him in spite of the circumstance and help him get through it and the make the necessary adjustments associated with that.”
This is obviously a big blow for Golson, who missed all of his rookie season due to a shoulder injury. For now, it sounds like he might be out for the entire 2016 season and hopefully be able to give it a try again in 2017.
More injury updates from Tomlin’s Wednesday press conference are on the way.
