If you are unable to make the Pittsburgh Steelers annual Friday Night Lights practice this year on Aug. 5 at Latrobe Memorial Stadium, it was announced on Thursday that ESPN Sportcenter will be broadcasting live from there that evening from 7-9 p.m. EST.
While this is certainly great news, it’s worth keeping in mind that ESPN will likely be limited as to what parts of the Steelers practice they can show, if any at all. In all likelihood, their coverage will include a few interviews along with thoughts from guest analysts on the team’s upcoming season.
In addition to ESPN being present at this year’s Friday Night Lights practice, Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller from SiriusXM NFL Radio are once again expected to have their live annual broadcast from Latrobe Memorial Stadium. If they do, you can expect them to have quite a few interviews with a few Steelers players in addition to general manager Kevin Colbert during their show. As always, I will be transcribing the meaty parts of all interviews that night and posting them here on the site for you to read.
I’d like to remind all of you once again that Alex Kozora will again be present for all of the Steelers training camp practices this year and filing daily reports afterwards.
The Friday Night Lights event kicks off at 6:45 p.m. with a short autograph session, followed by the full practice. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and seating is first come first serve. Admission for the practice is $5 for adults 18-65 and $2 for children under 18 and senior citizens. Children under 12 will be admitted for free if accompanied by a parent. Tickets will be sold at the gate and can be purchased in advance by calling 724-539-4236 or in-person at The Greater Latrobe Athletic Office, The Latrobe News Stand, Latrobe Parks and Recreation, and Latrobe Administration Building Lincoln Avenue, Latrobe PA.
